June2021 Starter Wine Bag
We hope you enjoyed the selection in your last wine bag. Here is our June list of always-minimal intervention wines.
Chardonnay by Fattoria il Muro (Italy)
Good Fucking White by Neleman (Spain)
Cabernet Sauvignon by Pure Vision (Australia)
A deep red with a vibrant purple hue, this organic cabernet sauvignon is fruity with distinctive, rich aromas of dark black berry and cassis. Aged in older French oak, it leaves a well balanced palate and lingering finish. Matches to anything meaty, whether grilled lambs and steaks or barbequed mushrooms..
In 2005, Ken founded Pure Vision, an organic and sustainable arm to the family business, and was joined by Chris. The brothers have over 40 years of experience in the vineyard now, and they are passionate about sustainable farming and organic farming practices. Visionaries in sustainable winemaking in Australia, Nature’s Step and Pure Vision create some of the most delicious, easy-drinking organic wines on the market.
Campagne de Gaure Rouge (Syrah/Grenache) (France)
Black fruits and wild berries characterise this easy-drinking red. A delicate, fruity palate with a round, medium-long finish. Soft, supple tannins make this accessible enough for an aperitif on a cool evening, but this is a wine as equally at home with grilled meats or charcuterie platters.
Located in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of Southern France, Château de Gaure produces exceptional examples of organic winemaking on the south coast. Low yields, use of indigenous yeasts, traditional vinification methods and controlled vine management create refined wines that tell a story of the clay-limestone terroir of the region.
Pierre Fabre, an accomplished artist by day (he designs the extraordinary labels on his wines himself), has been committed to small-batch organic winemaking at the Château since 2005. He's a fantastic example of independent winemakers working sustainably in traditional French winemaking regions. Pierre and his team hope to be certified biodynamic in the near future, bringing another layer of intrigue to his delicious wines.
