June2021 Starter Wine Bag

We hope you enjoyed the selection in your last wine bag. Here is our June list of always-minimal intervention wines.

Chardonnay by Fattoria il Muro (Italy)

Lama Chardonnay   Federico of Fattoria Il Muro
A pale straw-white Chardonnay with golden reflections and an extraordinary range of floral notes. Strong mineral aromas lead to green, floral scents with hints of elderflower and spicy notes. On the palate, fruity and crispy with well balanced acidity make this a perfect choice for lighter dishes – think seafood, white meats and salads. Since taking over the vineyards from his father, Federico Pancaro has modernised the organic techniques used to produce the delicious Il Muro wines. With rich soil and temperate climate in the hills of Tuscany, Federico and his team strive to produce brilliant grapes that reflect the unique Tuscan terroir. Federico’s enthusiasm, love for nature and respect for the environment are the secret ingredients in their recipe to maintain the highest quality wines, but modern techniques and an understanding of sustainability and also helping to drive the vineyard’s production.

Good Fucking White by Neleman (Spain)

Brown Bag Wines Just Fucking Good White

Full, powerful and spicy with lots of ripe tropical fruits and hints of vanilla. You can never go wrong with this one. This wine is made with very ripe but shaded grapes in order to achieve a jammy, sexy mouth filling taste but keeping freshness and acidity. It is a white that surprises for its complexity and balance. Neleman wines are Spanish organic wines from D.O. Valencia with a Dutch heart. With special attention for local authentic grapes, reflecting the soil and region. Each wine has its own personality and you can taste the passion and love they’ve been made with. We allow nature to do its work. Good wine is made in the vineyard.

Cabernet Sauvignon by Pure Vision (Australia)

Organic Cabernet Sauvignon by Pure Vision   Ken and grandkids

A deep red with a vibrant purple hue, this organic cabernet sauvignon is fruity with distinctive, rich aromas of dark black berry and cassis. Aged in older French oak, it leaves a well balanced palate and lingering finish. Matches to anything meaty, whether grilled lambs and steaks or barbequed mushrooms..

In 2005, Ken founded Pure Vision, an organic and sustainable arm to the family business, and was joined by Chris. The brothers have over 40 years of experience in the vineyard now, and they are passionate about sustainable farming and organic farming practices. Visionaries in sustainable winemaking in Australia, Nature’s Step and Pure Vision create some of the most delicious, easy-drinking organic wines on the market.

Campagne de Gaure Rouge (Syrah/Grenache) (France)

Campagne Rouge by Chateau de Gaure   Chateau de Gaure

Black fruits and wild berries characterise this easy-drinking red. A delicate, fruity palate with a round, medium-long finish. Soft, supple tannins make this accessible enough for an aperitif on a cool evening, but this is a wine as equally at home with grilled meats or charcuterie platters.

Located in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of Southern France, Château de Gaure produces exceptional examples of organic winemaking on the south coast. Low yields, use of indigenous yeasts, traditional vinification methods and controlled vine management create refined wines that tell a story of the clay-limestone terroir of the region.

Pierre Fabre, an accomplished artist by day (he designs the extraordinary labels on his wines himself), has been committed to small-batch organic winemaking at the Château since 2005. He's a fantastic example of independent winemakers working sustainably in traditional French winemaking regions. Pierre and his team hope to be certified biodynamic in the near future, bringing another layer of intrigue to his delicious wines.
